BEGEGNUNGSZENTRUM DES ERZBISTUMS MÜNCHEN UND FREISING IN ROM

On May 28th the construction of the Intercultural Center for the Archdiocese of Munich and Frising has been completed.

The project for the Begegnungszentrum des Erzbistums München in Rom (Casa Santa  Maria della Baviera) has been signed by AKA architects, that managed also the construction works, that lasted about one year.

The complex includes spaces for conferences, exhibitions, guest rooms, a small church and a garden on different levels and aims to be a place for cultural and religious exchange.

The original building, an art nouveau six-storey construction by Coppedè, a celebrated Italian architect of the time, has been totally reinvented inside with a project that preserves a neat distinction of forms and materials between the pre-existing building and the new construction as a symbol of the meeting and integration of two cultures.28.05.15
